In a recent development, the White House has made allegations that Ukrainian forces are utilizing cluster munitions supplied by the United States on the battlefield. The situation comes to light as Kyiv seeks to gain momentum in its arduous counteroffensive against the entrenched Russian forces and reclaim territories lost during Moscow’s invasion in the preceding year.
As per a statement from a senior presidential aide in Kyiv, the ongoing operation is expected to be “long and difficult”, signifying the magnitude of the challenges that lie ahead for the Ukrainian forces.
It’s worth noting that Washington had recently provided Ukraine with these weapons for the first time, earlier this month, in an effort to bolster Kyiv’s capabilities as it endeavors to dislodge the well-entrenched Russian troops and regain control of the territories that were occupied during the initial months of the invasion.
